Devices turns on randomly, even with the power button set to off

My QC35s randomly turn on even when the slider is set to the off position. I've disassembled and cleaned the power connector with alcohol twice now (suggested on YouTube) but to no avail.

This started happening randomly and even more annoyingly they are now out of warranty so if I can fix them I'll have to fork out for a new pair.

Any ideas?
