I think my charging port is loose or bad or dirty.

My phone frequently disconnects from the charging cable/Android auto I've tried new cables and it still happens. I have to unplug and plug it back in to reconnect, but if the cord moves a little bit, it disconnects again.

So I think it's an issue with my port on the phone.

@adamtomesh While usually I'd recommend replacing the charging port, chances are your phone is still under warranty since the s23 ultra is a fairly new model.

If it is, please take it in to get a replacement port since they will ensure the phone is properly resealed against water ingress, which you can't guarantee if you perform this repair yourself.

Was able to get a "like new" replacement phone for free. Which I figured was the best option rather than having me or a local store repair this one and hope it's done correctly.

it is very likely that there is a problem due to the dirt accumulated in the connector. you can with tweezers (only one side) taking care not to cause shorts, clean the dirt first. you can use a small brush and compressed air to clean the connector completely.

if the problem persists you must check the sakdature of the connector or if the seat where the cable enters has been striped and if it is tightening it to size

I did buy a cleaning kit with tiny brushes to clean dirt out of there and got some dirt out. but it didn't really change after.

I believe it's tightening when it goes in because it feels pretty secure.

I took that problem to Best Buy and the geek squad guy said he shredded a tooth pick into a brush and cleaned it out and it is good as new.

@adamtomesh since cleaning does not resolve the issue, I would suggest to replace the charging board. Those boards are widely available and luckily not to costly. Just remember that you will need one that is for your exact model. Check on sites like this for an idea of what you are looking at. This is not an endorsement of the seller, just an example. To replace it, use something like this guide It is in French but browsers like Google Chrome translate these almost perfectly.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
