How to get Wonderboom 2 out of Demo Mode?

Hi, I recently picked up a UE Wonderboom, I believe it to be a Wonderboom 2 and it appears to be a display model from a retail store kiosk and is demo mode, it only works while plugged in with aux in. Does anyone know how I can "unlock" this speaker to operate like a normal, non display model? I've found unlock instructions for the Roll, the Boom and the Megaboom, but nothing about this particular model. I figure it's worth a shot to ask, can anyone help?

These days most demo models are physically stripped of features like Bluetooth, it isn't left behind; they do that to keep someone from blasting their Soundcloud mixtape over the speakers in the store. No firmware is going to bring this back.

Samsung and Google do similar thing; Samsung strips the IMEI# from demo phones, google puts S/N tied MDM on it so it can't be used and if you manage to reflash it then the MDM will still be present nor will they remove it.

You are correct. I opened it up and the board is missing a ton of components and has blobs of black epoxy on the board that the normal retail model does not have. I ended up buying one with blown speakers on ebay and I will use these speakers as I have verified they are the same.

Whats interesting to me is that while this is a stripped model, the Megaboom display models are not, they are just flashed with a demo firmware and can be restored to full functionality via the desktop update tool with a PC.

While I can’t tell you what’s needed with your WonderBoom.

I was suckered with one that was missing the battery and was programmed as a demo only unit.

Hopefully you didn’t get the one I returned.

Nothing wrong with a demo unit but it needs to be listed as such... I can add a battery, but not Bluetooth.

@nick - It wasn’t marked. The only way I could tell was the units weight as I still has my older one to compare.

I wasn’t going to open it up as I had just bought it a few years ago.

Nah, I bought this one at a resale shop and it had a battery. It was only $9 so I'm not too mad, I ordered a normal retail model on ebay that had bad speakers so I'll just reuse the speakers from this one to fix that one.
