To ensure it is a hardware problem, you can first reinstall the drivers. Open Device Manager, find the audio chip, right click and hit Uninstall. Confirm and restart the PC. The drivers will reinstall automatically once the PC restarts.

If that still doesn't work, you may have to replace the sound chip and audio jack. Unfortunately for this particular model, it looks like they are soldered onto the motherboard rather than being on a separate daughterboard, which will be an expensive repair.

Instead, you can get a USB soundcard, which will be a cheap workaround that will give you a working 3.5mm jack without having to tinker with the insides of your machine. However, note that this workaround means that the internal speakers of your laptop will not work.

@aruparup before you are assuming that this is an "audio chip" issue, you need to rule out software issues. Uninstall all audio drivers. Then reinstall updated drivers for the audio. This "AND EVEN 3.5MM LACK IS NOT WORKING" is normal since it depends on the same audio circuit. You need to first determine why your OS can't find the audio hardware and most common is a outdated/failed/uninstalled driver or software conflict. Verify for us that your computer is a Dell Inspiron 15-3531
