Horizontal Line and Some Shadow iMac late 2009 Display

I recently buy iMac late 2009 core2duo 3,06 with radeon 4670 with OS X Snow Leopard Installed. Then I upgrade to el-capitan, the horizontal lines appears, and i upgrade to high sierra and my screen is pasteling. I want to change the lcd, but it is backlight problem or panel failure? If panel failure, i want to change only panel led and use my iMac backlight, which is more to save my money. thanks.

I think you need to do a bit more testing as I think you have still a different issue!

I would plug in an external display to see if the banding shows up on it. Let us know what you discover.

Ok, i will buy mini display port converter next. But when I take screenshot the lines is disappear. So, the problem isn't in my gpu or logic board.

@bulleters - If you mean taking a screen snapshot, that doesn’t prove the health of your GPU or the display. That is what is held in the systems RAM space where the image is constructed before going to the GPU and then onward to the display.

Ok, I will update soon.

@danj When I connect to an external display, external display is normal, no lines no shadow. See, I have attached picture when it connected to an external display.

@bulleters - The display LCD panels connection to the T-CON board which also sits within the display assembly where damaged at some point.

Often times it is caused during the process getting inside the system.

Here the data line traces for the two areas where damaged likely along the LSD glass panels edge.

Sadly, time for a new display assembly
