How can i tell if my Kenmore 110 washer/dryer is gas or electric?

Hi Katie,

Okay, we're going to start out by cutting the problem in half. There's no such thing as a "gas" washing machine, so we can put that part to bed right away.

As far as figuring out whether your dryer is gas or electric, we can tell either by looking up the full model number, or we can figure it out from clues.

First off, a gas dryer only needs 110V to run the motor, so it'll have a normal household plug (at least here in the US) of 110V. An electric dryer here uses a lot more power for the heating element, so it'll be wired to a 220V outlet instead; it's usually got a very large plug that looks nothing like a normal outlet.

The second clue will be if there's a natural gas line plumbed into the dryer. If it has one, then yes, it's a gas dryer and if not it has to be electric.
