Why is my MacBook Pro shutting down after hitting a key

My MacBook will shut off after I release a key. If I keep holding the key the MacBook will stay on until I release it. This includes the power button but not any the the modifier keys (ctrl, shift, option, etc.)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Are you running it with the charger? And are you sure it’s charging.

@christophe70009 - I’m not sure if the system is taking the power. There have been issues within the power circuit in this series.

You’ll need to get a USB-C power meter to plug in-line with your charger to test things. Make sure you are using the Apple cable as not allUsb-C cables are fully wired or don’t offer the heavier gage wires for the power lines.

And lastly, given the system age you are likely hitting the batteries end which could be the root issue here.
