Red borders around the display

I am noticing a red band around the border of the screen. Its finish as shown in the picture

when the computer is shut down. It shows a red tint against a white background when the display is on. What’s the issue. How can I fix this. Kindly help. It’s a 2020 5K iMac

Very odd indeed! Was the system serviced at one point that the display was removed? And did you noted this after that point.

Check your warranty coverage! Even if it’s just past by a month they should still cover you.

I hadn’t heard of this issue and thanks for enlightening me!

I suspect the edge of the display adhesive is chemically changing, off gassing causing the polarizer sheets to break down. It appears the ambient light is reflecting off with a red glow.

LCD screens use polarizer sheets to bend the light. Basically, the light from the back light is filtered in one direction, then the light is passed through the LCD panel which alters the twist of the light so the locations the ligh is twisted pass through the top filter which is at 90 degrees of the first sheet. Take a pair of sunglasses you can see how the displays image disappears! As you turn theM.
