Looking for action button contact pad

Hello everyone,

I have bought the Steam Deck about a week ago, and the only thing that's faulty is the A-button. I have reseated the contact pad underneath (with the small circular golden plates) as well as the rubber membrane on top. The issue is that sometimes the button press will register, and sometimes it won't. The B, X and Y buttons work totally fine at all times.

I assume this is a hardware issue, so I'm trying to buy a replacement part for that particular piece. I have found it here on iFixit, but unfortunately it's out of stock (I have to order this on the EU website, since I live in the Netherlands) (Steam Deck Right Bumper Button Assembly). I can't really find this piece anywhere else.

Does anyone have an idea/estimation of when this item will be restocked?

Things I have tried:

  • Hard reset the Steam Deck software
  • Reseated the hardware underneath the action buttons itself (softly blew away any dust that may have been in there and properly connected the contact pad cable to the daughter-board).

Any help will be much appreciated (I'd really rather not go into the lengthy RMA process, especially since I can workaround this issue in games by re-assigning the A-button to the back plate buttons for now).

Kind regards,

Joshua

Hello everybody,

For anyone who is looking for the same product: I have contacted iFixit with the question of when this product will be restocked, and there is no estimate due to the complexity of the supply chain. However, the product is back-ordered, so it will be restocked at some point (just not clear when that is).

If you want to be notified, just use the 'Notify Me' button and fill in your email address to be notified whenever the product is back in stock.

Thanks for the help, iFixit!

Greetings,

Joshua
