Weird sound from headphones plugged into headphone jack

When I plug in the headphones, the sound often lacks the "mono information" and only the difference between the left and right channels gets put out, so the headphones sound weird. Knocking on the phone sometimes temporarily fixes the problem, which suggests that there probably is a loose connection somewhere, but I don't know where.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @boskoigic

As you said, you're probably hearing mono sound and not stereo.

Most likely this is a faulty spring (lost tension) in the headphone jack so that it only intermittently makes connection with the headphone plug when it is inserted.

You will have to replace the headphone jack (supplier example only).

An alternative to just replacing the headphone jack, which some find quite finicky to do, is to replace the charge port board as the headphone jack is mounted on it. Search online for GH96-12719A to find suppliers that suit you best.

To make it easier to remove/replace the headphone jack, the charge port board would have to be removed anyway.

Here's a video that will help
