Sony TV OLED Bravia XR-77A80CJ blinking red 4 times…no picture.

Last night my Sony OLED TV (model XR-77A80CJ) decided it was going to stop working and showing a red light blinking 4 times.

I’m looking for the service manual for this and can only find the user manual, so if someone can help me out with a link to the service manual that would help a lot.

I’ve seen some say it’s the T-con board, others say it’s the main board etc. Does anyone have any insights on how to fix this? Perhaps which board I should either replace or what even to look for?

Thanks in advance!

Ps. I tried hard resetting it but I cannot seem to find a physical volume down button on it :/

Hi Marius,

I ended up calling Sonys customer support and found out I had an extended warranty from when I bought it (first time that’s ever happened!). They sent a guy out and he replaced the main logic board. I believe there are two and in my case it was the answer.

Pretty quick to fix but unfortunately not ideal Apologies for the not perfect answer as well

Hi David,

did you managed to solve the problem? I have the same problem with my Sony Bravia XR-77A80J OLED and this is very frustrating because I bought it 2 years ago, so the guarantee just expired... I am wondering if it worth to try repairing it or no...

Thank you!

Hello David, may I ask when you made the purchase and when you called Sony and learned about your extended warranty? Thank you.

@davidelston, depending on your TV's chassis number, this can also be a backlight issue (Not common but possible). We would really need to see the boards. That way we can hopefully get you to measure some voltages to determine what you are dealing with. The OLED 4Blink is very commonly the T-con board but do not rule out the panel either So let's start with that. Post some good pictures of your boards with your Question so we can see what you see. Sony is getting stingy with their service manuals as well. Tougher to find.
