Fridge not cooling below 58 degrees F.

problem: Fridge is not getting cold enough. We are checking inside temp with a fridge thermometer and it is cooling to about 58 degrees, depending on thermometer placement.

Troubleshooting: we’ve removed and cleaned the door seals and pulled the fridge out and cleaned the coils. Still not getting to a proper temp.

Other info: Ice Maker stopped working years ago. We live in an area with very hard water and decided not to fix it. Still run water through the filter though.

What do we need to look at next?

I am having the same issue after closing the fridge door, I can hear a very light running of a motor or fan...The freezer is not cooling any lower than the upper fridge. My unit is a LG that was made in 2010...LG wanted $600 to come fix it, thinking it's not worth doing so. They did then give me a 15% coupon to purchase a new one should I decide to do that...

Hi @elizabethallred,

Please confirm the model number of the refrigerator?

What is the temperature in the freezer compartment like?

Can you hear if the evaporator fan, inside the freezer compartment is operating?

It will stop when a door (either door) is opened and start again when it is shut. It will run as long as the compressor motor is running.

Do not confuse this fan with the condenser fan which is outside the compartments near the compressor motor and can run regardless of the doors being open or not.
