Can I turn the LCD screen of my old MacBook Pro into a DIY monitor?

I've seen videos on of people turning their old laptop LCD screens into stand-alone monitors by hooking them up to third party controller boards. I was wondering if I could do the same with my old MacBook Pro. Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

I think that theoretically, yes, this is possible, but I don't know how to do it, and I don't think there are any instructions online. I think you would need to create a controller that receives display data from a standard connector like HDMI or VGA and then adapts it for the MBP display, supplying the correct power and data to the MBP display cable. Good luck! If you figure it out let us know!
