Keyboard and touchpad not working

Hey,

My MacBook Pro 2021 just broke a few days ago. Touchpad and keyboard started to not respond, then responded again, then no. Right now it's not working at all.

Once got a kernel panic too. I can't start the diagnostic tool because it says "Failed to start (or something like that)". well.

The Apple service told me it's liquid damage but I am pretty sure it's not the case.

Has anyone else had this and was able to repair it?

Everything working fine with an external mouse/keyboard.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sadly, I’m also suspecting liquid damage here as well. While you may have not realized it! COVID did in a number of systems as people would wipe the gear down with wet naps, in doing so some of the liquid would drip into the seams of the trackpad and behind the keys damaging the circuits.

If you review the MacBook Pro 16" 2021 Logic Board Replacement looking at the trackpad and keyboard connection’s (Steps 10 onwards to 12 and the to Steps 42 to 44) the connections are not likely to get wet from the bottom.

This will require a new upper case (Apple doesn’t offer the keyboard alone, and a new trackpad. Review the Apple Apple Self Repair site for Apples manual to get the parts you will require.

So the Mac worked well for months after the 'liquid damage' and then die at a random time? I think I cleaned it with wet wipes, but it was months ago.

@antalk - Overtime the spill slowly corrodes, so that’s not surprising.
