The phone is functioning properly including all the applications, wifi, i tunes but there is no display. There is no damage by water neither did the phone fall recently due to which the problem has occurred. What should i do?

The digitizer was probably damaged in the fall. You may need to replace the screen+digitizer assembly.
Prior to that, you can try to hold down the power+home combo to reset the phone.

display? do you mean the outer glass touch screen or do you mean the part that shows pictures? do the reset and see what happpens.
