Battery draining while laptop is off

Hello, i have laptop asus zenbook 14 pro, ux480. The problem is when i turn off next day is the battery complete empty or have only few procent. When i charge the battery and using without AC adapter, the battery life is normal (4-7hours) also in Everest software i see original capacity is 70wh and my is 45wh. Sometimes i have for example 50% battery and when i run some program what use also GPU the laptop shut down after few second of use. After restart have again only few procent. I measure the power draw, if laptop is off is take only 1mA, thats mean no short etc. Its it only battery problém or some power controller?

Hi @vojtech59738,

if possible, charge the battery and then disconnect it overnight and then check its status in the morning. This is to see if it is self discharging.

Perhaps the battery fails under load. The battery capacity is already down to 64% so it's already showing signs that it is starting to fail.

Hello, i was fully charge the battery and morning was have 88%🤷‍♂️ its possible is self discharge 12% in 9hours? Or better search problém on motherboard? Thanks

For a good Lithium type battery, self discharge is 5% in 24h, then 1–2% per month (plus 3% for safety circuit) so if your battery discharges 12% overnight, it's failing. (figures are for shelf life i.e. battery is disconnected from any load)

Again if possible see how far it discharges from fully charged in 24 hours if disconnected to see how far it does drop.

In the long run, it may save time not having to look for a motherboard problem that is not there.
