Configuration by apple after screen replacement

Broken screen, I bought the same Macbook on eBay, missing a logic board. So I can swap the screen into mine. Then it will need configuration. If I take it into an Apple Store will they do this for me? And would they charge me?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sorry to tell you you can’t swap out the display’s, you can thank Apple for that! You need access to a paywalled Utility that Apple calls a calibration tool.

Here’s the web site to order the replacement Self-Servicing Account Program. You could try using the tool with your removed display to see if that works if it does just return the part unopened. I’m not sure if the site is fully hardwired to the replacement serial number or not, as I haven’t had a second display to try. If that works let us know.

I just checked with apple repair. Posting the reply below. Seems like it might be trouble, if I say I repaired it and they run the configuration, then I say I want to return with it unopened, it is an obvious lie.

From Apple Repair

To return an order the unit needs to be in new, unused, unaltered condition and in the original unopened individual packaging within 14 days of delivery. Before we proceed, to verify the return will pass inspection, can you please verify that the individual boxes are still factory sealed?

can't you just put your logic board in computer u bought

by

I thought of that, but same problem? Isn't it the fact that the logic board and the screen are not a pair that causes the artifacts? Also then I would have the problem of the touch sensor not working.

I think I will just swap the screen, see how bad the artifacts are. then if necessary take it to an Apple Store to see if they will help.
