computer does not power on.

Was on the web, computer shut off. Press power button, lights for a few seconds but nothing more. Checked power supply(have 2 of them) the led near jack lights but nothing more. Changed the main battery and charged, still nothing. Changed the button cell on mother board, same thing. Removed the ram and checked the cooling fan. Clean...

Yeap, this part is replaceable, but it just not easy like take it off and put it on. Some of them especially newer model need to be flash before we can put it on.

Would it be easier to replace the mother board? Is this chip on the mother board?

Based on above description, this could be starter chip (IO) has malfunctioned.

yeap, this chip is replaceable. But first, check whether power button socket has 3,3volt present.
