The screw keeps turning forever

When I opened the back cover, the screw that comes out immediately doesn't tighten properly. It refers to the screw mentioned in Step 6 on this page: Left Joy-Con Joystick Replacement

I have repaired several Joy-Con controllers before, but with all of them, this screw keeps turning indefinitely, and I couldn't tighten it properly. If there are any solutions or if I am doing something wrong, please kindly let me know

Options

Try a strong rare earth magnet, the female threads are likely damaged

I'd vouch to leave the fastener out or replace the plastic housing.

If it's free spinning you should be able to remove it with a magnet or tweezers.
