Unable to enter recovery mode

I have an eBay-purchased Moto G Fast locked with a pattern from the previous owner. I've tried to enter recovery mode by holding power+volume down while the phone is powered off, but no response. Even holding that button combo for several minutes yields no result. Volume up+power and the phone boots up as normal. I've tested all the buttons separately and they all function normally, but the phone does not enter recovery mode with power+volume down as suggested online. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Options

With the phone on hold power then press restart. When the screen goes black press and hold power and volume down.

This may not work as it might ask for a pass code.

Connect the phone to a charger then try power and volume down. Some Samsung will not go to the recovery screen without being plugged in so not sure if yours might be the same but worth a try.

Also the phone will probably be connected to a Google account so you will need to Google frp for that phone.
