LCD Backlight still not working after replacing inverter board + cable

My MBPro works with an external monitor and I can see what's on the screen with a flashlight. I've read all the answers that i could find on the topic here on Ifixit.com and I've replaced the inverter and the inverter cable but I'm still having issues. I've also booted off another macbook to rule out it being a software issue and have reset the PRAM. What is wrong? Is it an issue with the I/O board or actual screen? Thanks so much for the help!

With your external monitor working, your logic board is probably fine. You say you are having "issues" but don't say what those issues are. This makes it just guess work to diagnose. Please elaborate on your "issues".

The computer boots up fine and the OS is fine but I can only see a very faint image when I look from the side or use a flashlight. The apple logo on the back of the computer isn't lighting up either so I'm assuming it's a backlight issue.

It sounds most likely to be an issue with your LCD Display. I would try an SMC reset first though. I'm not ruling out the possibility of a Logic board fault - but it is cheaper and easier to try replacing the display before the board.

Did anything cause the issue or did this just develop?

Thanks, I'll try an SMC reset. I bought the computer from someone else so I'm unaware of the history. If I were to buy a new display, can i just buy one one ebay (are they any good?) or should I buy and entire replacement assembly just in case it was another issue?
