Why can I not connect to wifi?

I have a Gateway GWTC116 and it refuses to connect to the wifi. It cannot even recognize a wifi signal from a wifi that I know is working (multiple other devices using it). Every time I just try to turn the wifi on, it just fails. What can I do?
