Upgrade to 4tb ssd in early 2015

Is it possible to go beyond 2tb (4tb) in early 2015 mcbook pro.

i m going to try but any recommendation will be helpful.

Answer only about capacity! If possiblegy or what kind of error might occur.

What do you need more than 4 TB for?

Update- OS bigSur installed successfully waiting for my early 2015 macbook pro to replace the SSd with this new 4TB ssd.

Different update-

Also installed windows 11 home - on 2011, 2012, 2013 macbookpro.

The limitation is what Apple offers or what the 3rd party makers like OWC offer. There is no limit from the I/O perspective nor macOS either. Just the physical limitations of the blade drives size.

In the case of M.2 SSDs, becareful as these larger drives tend to get toasty when moving or processing sizable jobs and the tend not to be as reliable as Apples or OWC drives.

Frankly, I would focus on getting an external drive. I do ultra large image photography which requires knitting multiple images together. When in the field I use a 2015 15” Retina system and always use external drives to hold my images.

Thanks ! Yes i am very much familiar with these upgrades!

I will try Teams 4TB. I know apple proprietary need some tweak to install. ( adapter and firmware) . Not too much concerned this is an experiment ! Lets see how it goes. Plan is to have 2TB windows 11 and 2TB mac. Fyi i actually installed win 11 in 2011 macbook .

I'm curious as well did this work, i have the adapter and just bought a 2tb from microcenter yesterday and wonder if i could of gone 4tb. On 2015 mbp. Though wonder would it only work for specific nvme brand on their list similar to the 1 and 2TB list
