Hi @erickhdez1226

How much memory is installed in the laptop?

The laptop supports up to 16GB of memory (2 x 8GBPC3 -12800 sodimm ram DDR3L 1600MHz)

For smooth operation in Win10, 8GB is usually recommended.

Also replacing the HDD with an SSD will give improved performance.

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop. Go to p.75 p.77 to view the procedure to remove/replace the HDD and the memory respectively..

Check how many programs are being loaded on startup. Some are necessary for correct operation but a lot of 3rd party programs when installed are pre-loaded on startup so that they open more quickly when you want to use them. If you don't use them that often that are just tying up resources unnecessarily. Go to Task Manager > Startup to view all the programs that are loaded. If you don't know what they're for, Google the program names. If you decide that you don't need them to be pre-loaded simply disable it it (the program still works it just takes a bit longer to open). Startup. Right click on the program > disable, then restart the laptop for it to come into effect. If it causes any problems simply enable it the same way as you disabled it.

Also the thermal paste on the CPU might need refreshing if this has never been done, as it dries out and loses effectiveness after 5+ years. Here's the ifixit How to Apply Thermal Paste guide that may help with this.
