Can't get RGB Component Output to work.

Hello, I recently bought 2 separate Sony DVD/CD Changers DVP-NC615 and I've run into the same problem with both. They will not output video when using component cables. Both work perfectly fine with composite or S-Video, but I get nothing with component. Not even sound. These are older players, so it's hard to find information about them. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if I was unlucky enough to buy 2 players with the same exact problem.

Update: after a lot of testing, I still can't narrow down the problem. I decided to focus on just one player. I've tested it on 3 TVs with various different component cables (as well as audio cables). First TV, intermittent connection. Second TV with same player and cables, got it to work. Third TV with same cables and setup, got it to work. Tried different set of cables, intermittent connection. Switched back to previous cables, intermittent connection. I have no clue what is happening here.

And yes, both sound and picture drop. I understand they are separate and I should still get audio without picture, but I don't. Can't get any consistency, ultimately.

Hi @mattg10989

Have you checked that the Component video option works on the TV by trying a different device, apart from the two players that don't work using Component video?

Here's the user manual for the player.

Even if you didn't get the video, you still should get the audio from the player as it is the same connection as for Composite. See p.11 of the manual.

Here's the service manual that may also help.

Hi @mattg10989,

Maybe check the video/audio ports on the dvd player for loose connections. If they're on a board (haven't looked at the manual) then maybe there's a problem with its connection
