Tv screen flickers to picture and black screen

Lg 60LF6100 1080P Smart Led TV

My LG TV screen flickers from black to picture so quickly that I cannot reasonably do anything in the menu and or setting process. What could this be due to?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@steve55507 explain the flickering a bit more. Do you get a flicker free picture at all? What exactly happens? What have you checked? Do you have sound? Any change with that or is it normal?

Sounds is on and can be heard great consistently but the picture is normal and then goes black and then back to normal and back to black in intervals of a split second. Picture is not on long enough to do anything with settings so it’s very challenging to manage through any command altogether. The tv does not turn off, just the screen goes entirely dark for less than a second then back to normal for a second then back to black, etc. We do see silhouettes of what we are watching using a flashlight on the screen during the black screen view so it does not seem it is a board issue and possibly more a backlight issue?

have you been able to solve the problem?

If so, what was the solution?

Most commonly would be a bad main board. Other possibilities are bad power board or failed backlight. Once your TV screen turns black, darken the room and leave it at a channel that you know is working. Shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen and see if you can make out any silhouettes etc.

We can definitely make out the silhouettes during the black screen views. Does this suggest a backlight issue?

@steve55507 this "We do see silhouettes of what we are watching using a flashlight on the screen during the black screen" is a pretty good indication that you have a bad backlight array (strips). This "goes black and then back to normal and back to black in intervals of a split second" suggest that it is the actual LED strips and not the power supply. Replacement strips are available at places like this and even right here and many more places.

To replace those check videos like this as a guide. It's not the same model but essential the same way of replacing the strips. Just let us know If you are stuck or need any further assistance. You will need a second person to assist with the removal of the LCD. Do not let it flex since it is somewhat flimsy. Not a terribly complicated job but cumbersome.
