I'm looking to buy the ifixit PSP 1000 battery replacement and I'm wondering if it will fit with the original battery cover or if I have to buy a bigger cover?

it should fit the original battery cover, you should make sure there is no warning on the battery page, but if there isn't, it probably will fit

I bought the replacement battery and I can confirm the original battery cover closes over it without modification. It did seem like I had to futz with the door more than usual, but I'm happy that it fits.
