I need a converter of some sort

My Atari flash back 2 turns on but will not work on my smart tv. Do I need a converter?

It depends on what kind of video inputs your smart TV has available. The Flashback 2 has the original yellow composite video output and a separate audio output, mono in this case so there's only one white connector instead of a white and a red connector like there would be with stereo output.

So you'll need to check the back of your TV to see if it has a set of three plugs together that are yellow, white and red. If not, then you'll probably need a composite video to HDMI adapter. I'm sure you can find them all over the place, but here's one of the first ones I ran across on Amazon.

Plug your Flashback 2 into that, then run an HDMI cable from there to your TV and you should be all set.
