The Razer Blade (2018) is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop released in May 2018.

I broke a pin of the power socket, is it repairable?

Hi,

As the title says, I broke one pin of the power socket on my blade. I only managed to find replacement parts for jack sockets.

Does anyone know the reference or has attempted such a repair ?

@jojolascicaux that connectors is considered proprietary by Razer. It'll be difficult to find it on the usual places. You may have to resort to finding a donor board and harvest that connector off that one.

Hey, Jojo

You will have to entirely replace the power port, which will require some soldering.

Any idea where to find that power connector that needs to be soldered?

Those parts appear to be hard to come by. There's one that looks very similar, but it's connected to the motherboard by a cable rather than being soldered on. It's unclear whether it would be usable or not.

There's one guy on eBay who's gone ahead and used a 3D printer to make up his own version of that connector.

Razer Blade Charging Port - 3 Prong, Power Jack (Pack of 3)

Wouldn't be my first choice, for a couple of reasons. First of all, the ends of the rods he's using as contacts haven't been burnished or rounded, so I'm afraid they'd tear up the jack you try to plug them into, and secondly, he wants $100 with shipping! Yeah, that's a no for me.

Didn't find anything on AliExpress, but I'll poke around some of the darker corners of the internet and see if I can come up with anything else.

I'm in the same situation. Laptop still works fine, but it would give me piece of mind to have a replacement on hand should the other pin break.

With a bit of poking around on eBay I believe I found the adapter: DC in Power Jack port for Razer Blade 15 RZ09-02878E92 RZ09-02878E92-R3U1

Hope this helps!

I was able to repair the laptop at home with the part I linked in my answer above. The repair is not hard if you know how to solder. I think any competent repair shop should be able to fix it quite easily if you provide them with the replacement part.

I got mine repaired last week, it cost $140 in total, because the first shop I went to charged $40 for consultation, and did not do soldering. Shop that fixed it charged $100 total. It looks like I will have to get a new charger as well, because the pin got stuck in the charger, and does not accomodate the fix. A new charger is around $150, so it is turning out to be around a $300 fix in all.
