@tech_ni like Grandstand Astro Wars? Awesome!

by

I was wondering, why was this question associated to the Vectrex game console?

by

@vectrexer maybe because there was no category for vintage game consoles? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Let's see if we can fix this.....changed to Retro :-)

by

@oldturkey03 yes there was no option for astro wars so i had to pick something lol. working at it there as the past hour and i am getting sound now but there is no display, all diodes seem to be reading both ways for some reason

@tach_ni I really think it is awesome when somebody repairs vintage games etc. Those things are why we got the PS and Xbox etc. They are the granddads of what we are having in our living rooms now!

@oldturkey03 i never play consoles lol just repair them

@tech_ni Blown caps and voltage regulators seem to be a theme. Check something like this video to get into it. Check for obvious damage and after that you may need to use this schematic Schematic Astro Wars Post some images if you run across anything odd etc. Adding images to an existing question

Hope you get it back on the road. Vintage games are awesome.

@oldturkey03 it seems like the emitter side of the larger transistor is shorted to ground even when its removed from the circuit, it seems to led to a cap a few things but even when i remove them its still showing short

by

@tech_ni time to change the transistor and see what it gives you. Really hope you get it working again.

by

@oldturkey03 i did change it but still does the same thing

by

@tech_ni you actually got it fixed? That is AWESOME. Daniel, you better took pictures to make a guide for that. Love to see it. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/new
