replace battery and screen and after that is not working

Hello everyone.

I literally changed my battery and the screen on of my iPhone 8 plus, and after finish the screen never switch on. If i connect on my mac or put on charge the screen comes on but keeps reseting. Like a re boot mode.

Not sure what is happening.

IS that possible the battery is broken?

tried with the old screen and it does the same.

what to do next?

thanks all

Hi Hugo,

Yes, it is entirely possible your replacement battery is defective, and the symptoms you describe would tend to support that theory. The battery is made up of two components, the cell that stores the power, and a tiny amount of electronics called the BMS, or Battery Management System. If your BMS is bad, the phone won't be able to draw any power from the battery which would explain why your phone only comes on when plugged into an external power source.

In addition, there are temperature and voltage sensors in the BMS, and if the iPhone cannot read them, it will reset the phone in an attempt to recover.

So yeah, everything points to a bad battery. If you still have the old battery you could try plugging it in and seeing if it behaves normally; otherwise you should probably contact the vendor where you purchased the battery and see about getting a replacement. If you bought from iFixit, it has a one year warranty and you shouldn't have any trouble getting it replaced under warranty.

Good luck; let us know what happens!

I literally I have done what you suggest and the phone switch on normally.

One thing i noticed is the percentage of the battery didn't switch on but i guess is because when you remove the old battery maybe smash some of those sensors you mentioned previuosly.

I bought the battery from from IFixit. Surely they need to swap and send me a new re seal adhesive for the front screen.

How do i ask for a swap in IFixit

thanks a lot

@hugoborges Contact the iFixit Store personnel by emailing them at support@ifixit.com. They're very easy to work with and try hard to help.

do you have access to a USB volt/amp meter like this?
https://www.amazon.com/Saitec-New-Power-...

if you do, connect it between your phone's charging cable and a USB power source. if the amperage reads >0.00 then the phone is drawing power (the battery is charging) and this could help you diagnose if it's a battery issue or a screen issue.

the other thing to try is downloading a copy of 3utools (free) for your pC, connecting the phone to the pc via USB and trying to turn the phone on. if it boots, or goes into DFU mode (no display) 3utools will tell you that.

if your'e drawing 0.00 amps and you get nothing via 3utools, then chances are the battery is probably defective
