iPhone kills any battery I connect to it

Hi,

My iPhone SE was out of charge (showing the connect charger symbol).

When I plugged it it turned on, then the screen went off. I thought it was the timeout.

After a while I came back and noticed the phone was not responding (screen does not turn on).

I thought it could be the battery, so I measured it. It was at 0V, which is weird because it was charging.

Anyway, I had a few old batteries that were still measuring over 3.8V.

When I put them, nothing happens and after I take them out, they also read 0V.

My guess is that there's a short circuit, which is also triggering battery overcurrent fuses and so any battery I put gets killed.

Does this rings a bell to anyone ?

Thank you!

Hi

It sounds like you are on the right tracks about it being a short circuit as that’s what it’s most likely to be

It could be a verity of components so I would start by checking out what the components look like around the battery connection

I would look for anything burned ,discoloured or anything that looks wierd

I would also feel the board for heat

You might need to check some power rails to get to your culprit but if it’s killing battery’s it might be easy to find through heat spots (no promises though)

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)
