iPhone 3GS backlight does not work

even though the water damage sticker is ok. what should i do? i can barely see the screen but i can see the screen and every thing is working (i think). is this because of the lcd or the 6r8 coil thing. Thanks for your help

Angus, the is a somewhat tricky question. The actual backlight is in your LCD, whereas the 6R8 is part of the backlight circuit that controls the light. There is also an IC 109B that is part of this circuit. I would start with the LCD since it is easiest to replace.

Did you replace the LCD yet? If you know that the LCD works, take a look at the original answer. It is possible that it is your coil (6R8)that needs to be repaired.
