Green/Pink line on left of screen.

Hi everyone,

My laptop's screen was replaced after cracking it a month ago, and today this thin green line has appeared.

It wasn't dropped or experienced any notable physical damage recently and only popped up whilst I was sitting on the couch.

The green line disappears when I press on the back of the case/screen so a bit weird.

Any help is appreciated!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

O’boy! This is not good!

Did you drop or bang the system, or place some thing heavy on top or shove a book/charger in the case which pressed on the lid?

If not then you might get Apple to replace it under warranty.

At least it’s not a difficult job, but you need to use a replacement directly from Apple as the display is serialized to your system so you can’t use just any display.

Apple Self Repair warning it’s an expensive part!

This is quite annoying haha. I only just paid $1200 to get the screen replaced, does it sound like I will need to get it done again? Not possible that a cable is loose or faulty from recent fix?

@marcust65 - Nope no simple fix here. Let’s think this though a bit…

If we look at a small piece of cloth we have a weave of threads going in a X and Y direction. A LCD display screen is no different. Now what would happens when we pull some of the threads of the cloth we quickly loose the integrity of the weave. This is the effect you are seeing here as some of the vertical lines have been damaged within the panel. These are very small metal oxide deposits on the glass panels that carry the signals to the given pixel cell which then turns it on or off.

If you just had it done see if they will repair it under warranty.

In any case something is allowed to press on the display causing micro-fractures of the panel where you are seeing the damage. So you need to figure that out so you don’t kill it a third time.

@marcust65 - Sorry for the bad luck.

Usually, when the graphic adapter has faulted, the screen goes totally blank or black and the lines appear horizontally BUT when there is a faulty logic board on LCD, or the LCD has been damaged to some extent the lines appear vertically.

Will
