iPod ripping software, good or not

Hi,

I need to access my files n my newly repaired ipod. Ive got a zif conector, but windows wants to format ipod and wont let me access the HDD. Ive tried installing Ubuntu as a seperate OS but cant find the HDD even listed. Would a file ripping software work? I guess they are mostly not free...

Or any other suggestions are welcome!

Alan, if your drive is not recognized as a HDD or as an additional drive at all, no ripping software will get the files of the drive for you.
