Projector HDMI not responding

InFocus IN2124

I have a Infocus projector linked to my laptop. Ive recently purchased a wireless HDMI connector. When i plug in into the back of the projector there is nothing.

I have unplugged the other connectors, restarted, pushed the plug in as far as it can go, and still nothing.

Any ideas would be great.

I have tried two wireless connectors, and neither register that there is a device in the HDMI port

Nadia Schemel does the projector still work without the wireless adapter?

by

Yes it does work. I was previously using a vga connection, but wanted to do away with the cord

@Nadia Schemel okay, that is good news. We know that this issue is not your projector but the adapter. Most likely a situation where your projector does not recognize what to do with it. Any model number or other identifier on the adapter?

check your inputs also. you might have to add the projector manually

I don't believe you have faulty devices, just HDMI format incompatibility. Please check the spec's on your projector as well as those for your wireless adapter and post the format listed for each one here. For example, HDMI 1.2? HDMI 1.1? HDMI 1.3? VGA is much older and doesn't have this issue (but also doesn't carry audio, however, some cables come with a separate 3.5mm audio cable run with it). Try a different laptop/computer of a different age, looking for HDMI port compatibility or use a recent type of splitter/switcher (splitter if issue's on projector end or switcher if on laptop end) on your wireless adapter that's backwards compatible to overcome the encoding issue. I wish I could post a diagram on here; would make it so much easier. Alternatively, you can return your HDMI wireless adapter and swap it for a VGA version, which are harder to find but still are available.

@automotive you can post diagrams. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question and treat your diagrams as images. It will accept multiple formats including PDF's. You can only add those "documents" or images to answers and question, but not comments.
