Hi,

Is the check engine light on as well?

Get the vehicle's OBDII port scanned to see if there are any error codes stored.

If there are it may be that the EMC unit has disabled the cruise control due to another malfunction with the engine.

The code(s), if there are any will tell you more about what's happening
