The calibration tool seems non-functional with the latest Pixel 7 version updates (Dec 2022 or Jan 2023). I'm unsure if it ever functioned for this device, as the tool was released for Pixel 6 and 6a. Using this tool on my Pixel 7 with replaced screen gets stuck on step two, after successful upload, with the message "Couldn’t install the software". Some have suggested the calibration software on the phone claims to be newer — confusingly, the online tool is supposed to be the only way to RUN it, which doesn't work. Little info besides speculation.

As of now the replaced fingerprint readers appear useless until Google provides a fix.

I found a work-around to the fingerprint calibration problem, and posted it on the Google forums here:

I'll also be posting this as an answer to this question - hope it helps!

Chrome may not recognize your mobile phone because you do not have the correct driver installed.
Install the Google USB driver and try again: https://developer.android.com/studio/run...

To install it, unzip the zip in any folder, open the Windows Device Manager and click on the Add Drivers icon, look for the folder you had unzipped and OK.
