Smoothing burrs on Iron surface

I bought an expensive iron with a Teflon coated ironing surface. Between children/pets it was knocked off a stable countertop hit our hard floor, and now has several tiny "burrs" in the metal of the iron plate. Now when the cloth hits that spot it pulls and tears because it isnt smooth. What can I use to smooth this effectively without causing more damage or creating other issues?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Best course of action is using fine grit sandpaper. But that will remove the Teflon coating but you can find many guides online on how to reapply it to a cooking pan which should be a pretty similar technique. You also could just live without the coating if you don’t want to deal with reapplying.
