Broken display on MacBook Air 13" Early 2020 (MacBookAir9,1, A2179)?

Hi folks!

A small plastic bottle fell on my MacBook Air 13" Early 2020 (MacBookAir9,1, A2179) by the lid and now the display does not work properly.

To note that: (a) despite the crack visible in the attached images, the outside glass is not cracked as I can't feel anything but a smooth surface when touching it with my finger and nail; (b) I can connect an external monitor with the USB C to HDMI adapter and use it successfully.

My questions:

  1. how can I be 100% sure that the damage is in the display and not in the cables/connectors or graphic card?
  2. where would you recommend me to buy the replacement display? Ebay? AliExpress?
  3. how do I choose the replacement display? Are all at the same quality or what shall I look for?

@nimiq, The damage you see on your screen, is standard broken panel, no question there.

You should buy the replacement from a known good vendor. iFixit has them in store.

Then you use the guide, also available on iFixit to replace the display assembly.

It’s not a very hard replacement, and as long as you take your time, are careful and you follow the guide, you should be fine replacing it :)
