Igniter on a gas cooktop clicks all of the time when burner is off

One of the five burners on a Thermador gas cooktop clicks all of the time, even when the gas knob for that burner is turned off. The other burners work OK.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Problem is with front left burner

by

Repaired it by replacing the Gas Simmer Controller model SQ120Q

I have the same problem with 1 of the burner (front left) clicking when turned off. It is doing it mainly when I used the same burner and stop doing it when it is cold.

I just changed simmer control but still have the same problem. What is the ignitor switch? In the drawing attached is it the potentiometer (516) or burner vavle (507)?

thanks for you help, this is so annoying!

Two things can cause this problem. Most common is the ignitor switch. It is located on the burner control valve. It turns with the valve as you turn the burner on. It is a plastic moving part and the contacts will wear. Or Spillovers etc…will get in it and cause the contacts to stick.

The spark modular can cause this also. In my experience, the ignitor switch being on the left front and used a lot has probably failed.

To access the ignitor switch, after unplugging the unit remove the burner knobs. Depending on your model, you might have to remove the burners to remove the top to access the burner valves and the switches that sit on each valve. Depending on your model, you might be able to buy the switch separately or you have the by the harness with all the switches.

The switch is part of the potentioter, 516.

thanks I will try to replace it

Good news! changed the switch (25$ on ebay) and no more clicking issue. The old switch was dirty with some grease on the circuit.
