90% black image after being dropped

Hi. I have a Nikon D750. A few weeks ago it took a small dive off a log (strap got caught, I'm still grieving). Since then the photos have been coming out nearly completely black, with a small strip of the actual image at the top.

I've read a couple other similar questions/answers and have switched lenses and batteries (no change) and downloaded these images to my computer, but they're still black on the desktop. I'm able to view the menu screens and past images fine on the camera, but the live view is showing the 90% black screen with a strip of the image at the top.

Just wondering if anyone on here has any solutions or suggestions? I know it's probably a 'send it away for repairs' job but thought I'd give this a shot! ;)

@elle_rose I wonder if you damaged the mirror box or the shutter assembly. Here is the service manual for your camera Nikon D700. It will show you the location of the parts and how to disassemble. There is also a section on the mirror adjustment. Looks like a pretty big job but anything is possible.

My camera just started doing this today after a small drop on soccer field. Did you figure out what was wrong?
