Why wont my dsi charge?

I found my old dsi recently but didn't have a charger so I ordered one. but when I plug it in, it doesn't charge and the lights don't come on. it could be the charger but I don't have the tools to open it up or check the charger. nothing else in my house uses this type of port so I can't test it. I think it could be an issue with a fuse but I don't know. it might be it's just not getting enough power. it's a charger that is a USB, not a big box.

@ijhcwidhcgeu, I have never worked on or owned a DSi (I’m no gamer and have never been interested in gaming), but these kind of devices the first thing to do, is to replace the battery. Many of them have built in circuitry that prevents it from drawing a charge and even powering on (even with power connected), because that could pose a hazard because of the battery.

These batteries have a limited lifespan, and considering it has been left in a drawer or some place for a lengthy period of time, kills the battery even faster. In some cases, just a 3-4 months without use or charge can totally destroy a battery.

Assuming this is a device from ‘08-‘10 (or thereabouts), the battery is long since gone.
