Front facing camera not working...

So I've only had my iPhone 4 for about 3 months now and it was working just fine until about 2 days ago when I was trying to take a self portrait with some friends and could not get the front camera to work. When you tap the flip button to change from the back camera to the front one, the screen freezes up and temporarily locks up without switching. Then after about a minute or two the picture flips only to show the last thing that was on the screen before it flipped. Then about a minute of showing you that, you can tap the flip button but nothing happens. After you close and re-open your camera, it goes back to the rear camera. When you try to open the FaceTime function, it only shows a black screen with no picture...do I need to just replace the front camera or is this a bigger issue. I don't believe the warranty is any good since I have replaced the back with an aftermarket one and would really hate to think that my phone is a lemon. I've looked all over the net and it seems like though this is an uncommon issue, no one has found a fix for it. Nothing on YouTube or even google about a fix...just people complaining about it.

Try resetting the camera App. double press the home button - a menu will appear across the screen. Scroll left6/right till you find the camera icon. Press and hold the icon till it jiggles and a red circle appears on the icon. Press the red circle. This should reset the app.

If that does not work, try a reset of the phone - hold power ahd home screens at the same time till the phone presents the power off slider, power off and allow to reboot.

Also consider a restore thru iTunes - be sure to do a current backup first.

The front camera might just have a loose connection or needs to be replaced.

With the exception of labor a front facing camera will run =< $20 after shipping, depending on what service and how fast you want it.

Yeah, I'm thinking the front camera went bad. Did the restore and the problem is still there. Don't see how it could have gotten loose, my phone was never taken apart. But I ordered a new camera and will be fixing it myself. Ive worked on other iPhones before so at least I know what I'm getting into. So I will reply again after I try this.

Backup iPhone first. Reset to factory default, and set up new Iphone. Do not restore backup. Then set it up and try if it works. It worked for me. As soon as I restored backup from iTunes, camera stopped working. Then I reset it again, and set up a new iPhone. It is working now.
