Can I reattach my Fitbit Sense watch screen?

I woke up yesterday and the screen on my watch had disconnected and was just dangling. See photos. The display disconnected from the case of the watch. It's still connected by the cable connectors, and the screen is still working, but I need to re-adhere the display, if possible. Can I just add some adhesive and reconnect it without having to replace any parts?

Hi @ifixitmaxb

You're with ifixit so perhaps there may be some suitable spare pieces of Tesa tape floating about that you can use to adhere the display back onto the case. ;-)

I work remote or else I'd go find some in the office. I wanted to confirm my best option before trying anything. Thanks, @jayeff

Hi Max, additionally to jayeff’s answer you maybe want to make sure there is no internal damage (swollen battery?) that caused the display to come off in the first place. When you deem everything fine, go ahead and close it with the linked adhesive.

Thanks, Tobias. I'll check for internal damage before to re-adhere the display. It looks like Tesa 61395 Tape can be bought in 1, 2, 4, and 8 mm width options or else the precut card. Which do you recommend? In all of the smartwatch screen replacement guides on the site I can't find one that actually goes through the steps of reassembly so I can't sort out which width I would need. I do see the precut card listed as a part on the Apple Watch SE Screen Replacement guide so perhaps the precut card is the ticket.

@ifixitmaxb The 1mm or 2mm will do it (you can measure the rim and decide). There is no single way to close a smartwatch that has been opened through the screen. Some of our Apple Watch guides have additional information for reassembly since we offer die-cut adhesives for those models.

The listed "Precut Adhesive Card" on the SE guide is the overarching product name for the adhesives (roll and pre-cut card) and brings you to this store page: Tesa 61395 Tape

Some users prefer the T7000 glue as Nigel comments a bit further down.

We have the E6000 in our store which would do a similar job but needs a steady hand and you want to use it sparingly to not spill into unwanted areas or components:

I used T7000 adhesive to close fitbit versas when I repaired them. A small bead around the body, place the screen then wrap some elastic bands around the watch for 24 hours. Never had one come off again.
