Repair and disassembly guides for water dispensers.

Why won't my bottom load water cooler pull water from the jug?

My bottom load water cooler won't pull and dispense water from the jug. We've tried another bottle and made sure the cap with water tube is securely inserted. What can I try to fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @lauriehammell,

What is the make and model number of the water dispenser?

by

@jayeff Model: 1237BHC/YL1237S. Not sure of the make. The machine doesn't say but when I search this number I see Primo and Avalon.

Hi @lauriehammell

Found the user manual but that's about all I could find. Not that it is much help when troubleshooting

Since it is a bottom load, there must be a pump to pump the water up to the dispenser.

If the pump seems to be operating when trying to dispense water, maybe check that there's no air locks in the feed from the bottle to the pump.

Otherwise I don't know unless there a problem with the control board. Try resetting the device by removing the power for 5-10 minutes and then reconnecting it.

If your primo cooler is not pumping water, first unplug the unit for 24 hours and plug it back in. If it pumps, it's likely the temperature probe inside the cold tank that needs to be replaced. If it still doesn't pump after 24 hours, it's likely the pump that needs replacement.

Where do we get a pum or temperature probe, if needed? Who would service and do this replacement? An appliance repair person?

When you replace the jug on the bottom fill dispenser first open the bottle and leave on the floor in front of the cooler. Then take the pick-up hose and hold it by the top part and put the the pick-up tube partially into the bottle of water making sure the pick-up tube end is submerged in the water. Next with your other hand, hold down the door button on the inside that activates the pump when the door is closed. While holding the door button down with one hand move the pick-up tube up and down with the other hand repeatedly while the end of the tube remains submerged in the water. This will prime the pump inside the unit, and you will soon hear the pump activate. Once you hear the pump activate stop pumping the hose and put it all the way onto the bottle. Let go of the door button and slide the bottle in the cabinet and close the door. The pump will stop when you let go of the button but once you close the door it will kick back on. I have used this method for years with 100% success every time. Good luck and Happy Hydration!
