My phone is charged and works fine it can receive text and calls but the screen stays black it never displays anything. have did a reset, I have tapped both sides, I have rubbed both sides but nothing fixes it.

Brett Munsey since your phone does everything that it is supposed to do, except display anything, I suggest you start with a new display. Since there are no guides on iFixit that show the LCD replacement, I suggest that you use a video like this It will get you there as well. Replacement screen are widely available so you do want to do an online search for that to find what you like. Just remember that there are 2 versions of the A13 so make sure you get the right one for your phone.
While you replace your screen, create a guide for iFixit. that way the next person with similar issues like your phone, will have an easier way to finding it. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/new
