COMPLETION ANSWER

These are SureStart lasers with a hard drive installed, not flashed to NVRAM on the formatter EEPROM. If it takes a long time for the SureStart lasers to start, it's usually something with firmware corruption causing a problem it has to "self heal" from at startup; otherwise it DOES take a few minutes due to the hard drive, but it shouldn't take a long time either. They're not instant startup printers due to the hard drive and the firmware, they're meant to be turned on and left on 24/7, or started up ahead of time and left on from 9-5.

If it's a repeat problem beyond once in a while and it's taking too long, you can try and reload the FutureSmart firmware, either at the current level or updated firmware. The only caution I have is to beware of using newer firmware with non-HP toner where it works at the current firmware level unless you have a backup of old FutureSmart firmware; HP doesn't always maintain copies of old versions.
