How do I replace the main board

Hello I have a pair of Sony WH1000M3 they are 3 years old and have stopped working. I returned them to Sony who diagnosed the main board requires replacing. The very unhelpful Sony staff are unable to get the part so they can’t repair it so my alternatives are to throw them away or try to find a replacement part and try to repair them myself.

I am after a step by step guide to replace the main board any help would be appreciated

Thank you

@robertg_69 i'm having the same issues as yours, seems like the main board is not supported anymore by official sony. did you find any replacement part anywhere?

Hi Hindra unfortunately not Sony UK have offered me a new XM4 for a reduced cost, so I am going to just pay the reduced cost and get a new pair

I would suggest you send your pair back to Sony and see if they will make you a similar offer.

Good luck

as far as i can tell its not an accessible sparepart. however a micro soldering technician might not need one.
if i were you i would find a shop and ask if they would be willing to try.

another (riskier) option would be to find a broken pair with a working mainboard.
sometimes people will sell a pair with a broken headband for 20$

@robertg_69 something like this video will get you there. While you perform this repair/replacement, take lots of pictures and create a guide for the rest of us. It is easy and will really help other people out. Create a new Guide - iFixit

Now, if you need some help with removing the board once everything is opened etc., post some good images of where you are "stuck" so we can assist you further. Adding images to an existing question - iFixit Repair Guide
