Hi @cyclop

What is the model number of the converter box?

Check that the remote control batteries are OK by changing them with new ones or known working, compatible ones from another remote or device.

If the batteries in the remote are OK check that the remote is working OK.

If you have a digital camera or a mobile phone you can use the camera to "see" if the remote is working OK.

Turn on the camera or open the camera app in the phone and then turn the end of the remote that you point towards the converter box towards the camera so that you can see the end in the screen of the camera or phone.

If you press and hold any button on the remote you should see a small light flashing at the end of the remote when viewed in the screen.

If the light is there without pressing a button, then check if any buttons on the remote are stuck in the operated position as having 2 buttons operated e.g. stuck button and Power button sends an incorrect signal to the box and it won't turn on

If you can see the light try pressing the Power button on the remote and check that you can see the light when pressing it. As this is the most used button on the remote what can happen if you don't see the light is that the button contact surface has worn off so the button doesn't work electrically.

If you can't see a light at all when pressing any of the buttons and the batteries are good then there's a problem with the remote.

If you can see a light when the Power button is pressed then the remote is OK so ensure that there is nothing blocking the receiver window in the box that will stop the IR signal from getting to the box from the remote. The receiver window is usually on the right side of the front panel display.

If that is OK there's a problem with the box. Without knowing which model it is unfortunately at the moment I can't help any further.
